Welcome to the New York Veterans Charity Golf Classic

Grateful Americans Charity asks that you join us, along with your hosts, Jonathan Litt, Alan Litt, and Thomas Lally, at our upcoming 4th Annual New York Golf Classic on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the richly historical, Metropolis Country Club. Grateful Americans Charity began in 2016 with a mission of providing resources that support programs aimed at ending Veteran homelessness and suicide, while combating the invisible wounds of war, also known as PTSD. With your continued support, GAC has donated over $4 million to benefit the PTSD Foundation of America and its interim housing facility known as Camp Hope in Houston, Texas.

Grateful Americans Charity raises funds to support the vital work of the PTSD Foundation of America in saving the lives of Veterans. The foundation has numerous chapters nationwide that organize over 200 weekly Warrior Group meetings and 45 Family Groups. These meetings offer individual and group counseling for Veterans and their families, often serving as a turning point in setting them on the path to success.

The programs have helped hundreds of veterans and their families over the last 13 years. In 2023, the PTSD Foundation of America and Camp Hope facilitated over 5,679 Warrior group sessions and approximately 9,536 one-on-one sessions. Thanks to this wonderful organization, more than 2,000 combat veterans have found a renewed purpose, earned college degrees, found employment, become financially independent, reunited with their families and reintegrated back into society. We believe that with your support, and of others like you, we can end Veteran homelessness and suicide and stand with those who have served our country.

The original 18 hole golf course, designed by Herbert Strong, was later expanded when the noted golf architect A. W. Tillinghast redesigned the course, adding the current 7th, 12th, 13th and 14th holes. In the early 1970’s, architect Joe Finger reconfigured the 15th and 16th holes to accommodate some badly needed additional parking areas, and during 1998 and 1999 Joe Finger’s partner, Ken Dye, updated the course once again, lengthening the course to its current 6,827 yards. In 2013 the club hired architect Ron Forse to embark on a total restoration/renovation project. Under Ron's guidance, along with course superintendent David McCaffrey, the project was completed in the spring of 2015. The result of which has elevated the golfing experience at Metropolis to the finest in the Metropolitan area.

From the championship tees it is a challenging 6,827 yard Par 70 golf course featuring many doglegs, uneven lies, and undulating greens, all of which test every aspect of the best player’s shot-making ability. Metropolis is consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the Metropolitan Area, and our signature sixth hole, has been ranked by many golf publications as one of the 18 best holes in the Metropolitan Area and among the 500 best holes in the world. Over the years Metropolis' reputation as a championship course and our strong support of local Golf Associations has allowed the club to host every major Metropolitan Area Professional and Amateur Championship.
